Laura's Shelter House Inc is 100% committed to making this facsimile Fact. To accomplish this Laura's has been providing services to the homeless and near homeless over 20 years. We are 100 percent committed to establishing "Tiny Home" communities in Massachusetts, We have operated shelters in multiple properties and buildings and now believe that housing individuals and small families into a tiny home community is the best solution to the needs of the homeless.

Grow Your Vision
Laura's Shelter House Inc will cooperate with local elected officials, business owners and Northampton residents to create a sustainable, secure and environmentally sound "Tiny Home Community" for Northampton's Homeless Community. We embark on this effort after months of our outreach with the local homeless community. This effort is designed to alleviate and eventually eliminate the conditions which have led to the necessity of Northampton's homeless to sleep in the downtown areas of Northampton overnight. We believe that by positioning our homeless in a tiny home community that is well managed, secure and clean would be a humane solution to the plight of our poor, as well as go far to prevent visitors to Northampton from seeing our most vulnerable residents camped out in vacant store fronts downtown.

About
A Bit of Background
Formed in Worcester Massachusetts in 2001 Laura's Shelter House began with the purchase and renovation of our shelter building located at 41 Columbia Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. The property a former two story two family structure contained two bedrooms on each floor with two full baths and two kitchens. Located on Columbia Street a neighborhood of two and three family homes, Columbia Street is a vibrant neighborhood of low to middle class families nestled just off of the Kelly Square area of downtown Worcester. Located a short distance from St John's Church, a major food pantry and feeding location for the Homeless and near homeless in the City of Worcester. Laura's Shelter House after renovation which included the removal of the upstairs kitchen, contained eight large sized rooms which easily and comfortably could provide a comfortable living space for couples and families with one or two small children. We thrived in Worcester from 2001 until 2021 Laura's Shelter House housed the most vulnerable segment of Massachusetts MOST vulnerable population, our Homeless. Accepting everyone who signed "Our Pledge* that the individual accepting housing MUST Pledge to improve their Standard of Living within 90 days of accepting housing with us. That "improvement" consisted of either securing employment, applying for public assistance, applying for Social Security, enrolling in school, begin substances treatment or more. EVERY Resident of Laura's must improve their quality of life while they are with us. We operate to help anyone willing to help themselves, we Do Not Enable ANYONE to sit back, be housed and do NOTHING to improve Themselves. Our approach worked. In the course of 20 years, Laura's Shelter House Inc has helped thousands of individuals improve their quality of life, aquire housing and keep it
Our Mission
Laura's Shelter House has relocated to Northampton, Massachusetts after over twenty years of service to the homeless population of Worcester and it's surrounding towns. Upon arriving in Northampton our staff reached out to Congressman Mc'Govern"s Office and informed his staff of our recent relocation. His staff assured us that they would do whatever they could to help us in assisting the homeless population in Northampton and it's surrounding areas. Since arriving in Northampton, our staff has gone out and made contact with various individuals in the homeless community to get their perspective on what services are most lacking in the area. Our fact finding surveys in the City of Northampton and surrounding areas has led us to determine that tiny mobile home communities in the City as well as surrounding areas is the very best answer to the problems currently affecting the local homeless community

LAURA'S SHELTER HOUSE'S SOHO INITIATIVE

Would you like to support our efforts?

WELCOME
Welcome to our website. Since relocating to Northampton Massachusetts in late 2021 Laura's Shelter House Inc has helped many of this areas homeless with money, transportation to and from appointments, stress counseling, and more. Most importantly we surveyed many of the individuals in the areas homelessness community to assess what "they felt" was lacking in the current organizations servicing their needs. After hundreds of interviews Laura's Shelter House Inc has embarked on it's "NOHO INITIATIVE" in Northampton Massachusetts. We launched this initiative during Northampton's annual "Hot Chocolate Run" which is sponsored by"Safe Passage" a domestic violence prevention organization which operates in the state. As part of our fundraiser for the Hot Chocolate Run and Safe Passage, We inaugurated our "NOHO INITIATIVE". Our Initiative, our plan, consists of acquiring a "fleet" of "portable tiny homes" we can assemble, store then position in any area on any terrain where the "homeless" currently reside in numbers, provide sanitation, security and services at those locations during our time there, then disassembling the "encampment" and moving it to a more desirable or to a permanent tiny home location. We have brought this idea to the attention of local politicians, yet received no response, so we are taking our plan directly to the citizens and businesses of Northampton to support us in this endeavor. We shall begin accepting donations and selling merchandise to finance our NOHO INITIATIVE. We WELCOME Your Support
